Precautions for Adsense

Google Adsense has made a huge impact on internet advertising and it is not short of being a revolution. The fact that more and more people are using Adsense today is the proof of its success. It is a concept that can provide businesses, small and large with a good ROI and generate targeted traffic by creating a high visibility over the internet. You should start applying Adsense if you have been losing money instead of gaining in any kind of affiliate programs. Google through its Adsense service is providing high quality and relevant ads, which match up to the content on your website. To add to this is the search engine, which will take care of most of the searching. Another salient point is that you will not have to spend too much time choosing various types of ads for your website pages. Google's Adsense process makes it easy for you because it doesn't involve codes like it is the case for several affiliate programs.

AdSense is something on the lines of a set and forget arrangement thanks to the state-of-the-art technology used by Google. Here are some strategic tips of what to do with Google Adsense and what not to do with it.

  1. While working on Adsense, you should try and avoid default settings, instead work towards customizing your ads.
  2. When you are writing the content, think about your reader and then target your content through Adsense.
  3. One mistake that most businesses or people make is looking at AdSense as a competitor; instead you should look at it as a partner that is going to help generate revenue for your business and create visibility over the internet, and in fact provide you with a winning edge over your actual competitors.
  4. You need to position the ads correctly. This is highly important if you want to profit you're your Adsense campaign. You need to place your ads where you feel there is a higher probability for people to see it.
  5. With Google, you can place three instances of AdSense code per page. You should use this to your advantage but remember you need to also bring a variety to the implementation.
  6. If you have implemented the code on your Adsense ads then refrain yourself from clicking on the ad. Note: Google is extremely sensitive to click fraud.
  7. One of the things that many people try is game the system. Google is aware of most of the things or tricks that people apply and is notorious for pursuing people caught doing a click fraud.

Here is a list of Don'ts:

  1. Don't try to implement your AdSense code in a place where people won't be able to see it.
  2. There are many people who try to offer incentive to visitors so that they click on the AdSense ads. This is a no-no!
  3. Never beg people to click on your ad
  4. Never place your AdSense ads on empty pages.

The Google Adsense ads can be easily customized, which is one of the reasons for its popularity. They can also be placed anywhere on your web page but it is always advisable to place them where people will be able to see them and click on them. You can always experiment a little with themes & colors and of course the placement but you should never go overboard. Too much of experimentation can kill the main purpose.

But before you can start with Google Adsense, you need to be aware of the rates, which can vary. Your Adsense strategy should revolve ideally around the rates because you will receive your payments per click and it will all depend on how much you are willing to pay per click to place an advertisement using AdWords. The minimum that advertisers pay is around 5 cents and it can go to as much as $10, and even more. For example: lawyers are paying around $75 for using the keyword mesothelioma.

You can sign up for your Adsense account by clicking on the below mentioned URL: https://www.google.com/adsense/

Tips to Increase Adsense Earnings!

How many times have you seen an ad campaign running for “Google Adsense” that makes it sound so easy to make revenue by just copying and pasting their code onto your website? After all the research I have done on Google Adsense, I finally realized how it is not that easy just to copy and paste. There is much more beyond this that must be done in order to make Google Adsense revenue.

The following are techniques that must be implemented in order to really make money with Google Adsense:

  1. Design a website that is Google Adsense friendly. In other words, make sure that your website has much content that is keyword rich and make sure your keyword density is decent. Make sure that you are using the most beneficial keywords for your niche. Try to choose keywords that cost more for pay per click. For example, if a keyword such as “dog training” cost $2.00 per click to run an ad campaign, you can be well assured that you will make around half of that per click. By choosing the top competitive keywords, you will increase your Adsense revenue considerably. Once indexed, Google will then be able to known what correct ads to place on your website.
  2. Generate traffic to your website using a number of different techniques.
    • Writing articles
      By writing articles at least once a week and submitting them to article directories such as Ezine. The more article directories that you submit to, the more back links you are creating for your website. You can pay for article directory submission, which can cost as little as $80 every quarter.
    • Search Engine Directory Submissions
      By submitting your website URL to search engine friendly directories, you are creating back links back to your website. Make sure that you only submit to search engine directories with a Google page rank of four or higher. You can pay around $11.00 per website to submit to 100 directories with a page rank of four or higher. Create ads: By publishing classified ads, you are advertising your website and creating back links back to your website. US Free Ads and Domestic Sale are two places that you can submit your ad to for free.
    Just remember back links, back links, back links!
  3. Google Adsense ads can be published and designed in a wide variety of formats. When displaying your ads, decide upon a size that would be best suitable for your website. There are different sizes to choose from. There are also different fonts and colors you can use to create your ads. Try to use a color that blends in well with your website. Also, although borders can be used, many web publisher's state on forums and blogs, that once they removed their borders, they had more clicks on their ads.
  4. When displaying ads on your website, it is best to place them in a place where visitors can review them. One good place to display your ads is somewhere at the top of your website. A lot of web publishers use the top left corner for displaying Google Adsense. However, when you go to a website, what is one of the first things you look at? Could it be how the website is navigated by its menu? That is why another great place to display your ads could be near the navigation menu.

Earning revenue with Google Adsense takes time, patience, and trial and error. The more you read about how Adsense works for others, the more you will understand how it will work for you.

Expandable post summaries blogspot (read more..)

I've been tweaking my blog template because I've already bored with my old default template that I use previously. While working on this template, I'm thinking that it may be cool to have my long post to be truncated and have the "read more" link.

I found the code from Blogger Help to do this. However, there is one issue with their code where the "read more" link will appear regardless of whether a post has been truncated or not. You can check it out at help.blogger.com on How can I create expandable post summaries?. If you have already read them, you should notice the disadvantages under the Note list which says:

  • Disadvantages: Requires changes to the posts themselves, rather than to the template only. However, the "read more" link is in the template, so it will appear regardless of whether a post has been truncated or not. (Modifying this feature is left as an exercise for the reader.)

Do you think it is a good exercise? So, how many of you have already solve this exercise? I've been browsing through pages of google results and found that currently, I didn't see anybody solve and publish the answer for this exercise with just the blogger layout code and without using other javascript code. I do the search because I'm a lazy coder where I don't wanna spend my precious time to reinvent the wheel. Anyway, after a few minutes of thinking, I got an idea on how to solve this problem. And as usual, I'm happy to share my solution with you.

Let's make it short now, here's the tutorial:

How can I create expandable post summaries that only show the "read more" link if post is truncated?
With this hack, you can choose to display a select amount of text from the beginning of each post as a teaser instead of showing the entire post on the front page of your blog. Then when people want to read the rest of the post, they can click a “read more” link to see the full post. This is very handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. (Note that you’ll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.)

Step #1 - Edit your template code
To edit your template code, you have to go to your Layout > Edit HTML tab. Tick the Expand Widget Templates to have all the codes.

It is easier to copy all code and paste it to your text editor. To copy all code, click on the code area once and then press Ctrl+A to Select All. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selected codes, open your text editor and paste it in. Now you have your code ready to edit.

Add this code just before the <b:skin> tag on your template code:

<style>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
span.fullpost {display:inline;}
<b:else/>
span.fullpost {display:none;}
</b:if>
</style>

Here's how it should look. The yellow box in the image below shows your newly added code:

And then you have to find <data:post.body/> tag using Ctrl+F or find function in your text editor and paste this code just before the </p> tag, right after the <data:post.body/> tag:

<b:if cond='data:post.labels'>
<b:loop values='data:post.labels' var='label'>
<b:if cond='data:label.name == &quot;more&quot;'>
<a expr:href='data:post.url'>...<b>Read more</b></a>
</b:if>
</b:loop>
</b:if>

And the screenshot. The yellow box shows your newly added code:

My solution here is by checking the label whether it have "more" label. So, in every post that you decided to have the "read more" link, you have to add this label. I'm adding a loop to read the labels for each post and inside the loop, there is an IF statement to check whether it have the "more" label.

You should notice this line with:
<b:if cond='data:label.name == &quot;more&quot;'>
where the word 'more' in bold here is the label name. You can substitute this with any word you like but make sure you will only add that label to the post where you want to have the "read more" link.

And now, you can differentiate the truncated post. After verifying your code, copy it from your text editor and overwrite your HTML template code. Click on Save Template and you are done with the first step. Check your code carefully if Blogger fail to save it. Maybe you have missed any '<' or '>' in your code.

UPDATE!!: Please Read - Fixing Read More link appear on Blogger Fullpost

Step #2 - Add Class Tag in your default Post Template
The next step is optional to keep the class tag handy on every post you would like to have expandable post summaries. To add this, you can just go to Settings > Formatting tab on your blog settings. Scroll to the bottom and you will see the Post Template option. Then, put this code:

<span class="fullpost">

</span>

Here's the screenshot:

After that, click on Save Settings and you are done.

Step #3 - Creating your expandable post
You can now follow the same way like in the blogger help to create your expandable post. When writing your new post, anything you put above the <span class=”fullpost”> tag will be the teaser text. The main body of your post needs to go in between the <span class=”fullpost”> and </span> tags. When you have finish typing your post, make sure you add "more" label in order for the “read more” link to work properly.

Now, you can Publish your post, and see the result. Have fun blogging!!!

How to add Adsense in blogspot blog?

If you are going to be building a blog using Blogger for Trend Blogging, you need to understand how and where to add your AdSense units. So, I created two videos on how you can add AdSense to a Blogger Blog. One on the basics of adding Adsense to Blogger and the second on more advanced tactics (see below).

Obviously, I am assuming that you already have an AdSense account. If not, make sure you sign up for one ASAP as it takes a few days to get your account approved by Google. You can signup for the AdSense program here.

The first video talks about using the built-in facilities of Blogger to add AdSense to your blog (this video is just a tad bit over 9 minutes long)

High-Res version of this video is available here (opens in a new window)

There is however a downside to using the built in features… which is the lack of control of ad placements. You really only have three choices using their features: 1. below each blog post; 2. in your left or right navigation; 3. in the footer. This leaves out an obvious placement, which is an ad above your blog post. This area is probably the most important for click through rates of your ads.

So, I’ve created another video that shows you step-by-step how to add the code above each blog post (this video is about 8.5 minutes):

High-Res version of this video is available here (opens in a new window)

You will need to parse your AdSense code into standard XML to work properly with your blog. I explain all of this in the video above. But, in short, you need to convert certain symbols from your AdSense code into a language that Blogger can understand. In other words, we need to change:

Adding Adsense To Blogger

This is extremely simple, and can be done with a program such as "Notepad" on your PC. I show you how to do this quickly and efficiently in the video using the "replace" function in Notepad.

Once your code has been converted into a language Blogger understands, you can simply copy and paste it into Blogger. In the video I will show you exactly where you want to enter this code.

Have a look at the second video. If you have any questions, please feel free to post using the comments function below.
